Battlestar Galactica Slot Review

Battlestar Galactica is a 5 reel 243 ways to win video slot powered by Microgaming. It is based on the science fiction drama and produced in conjunction with NBC Universal. The TV series is based on humanity’s last remnants and their struggle to find a new home – it’s been going for 35 years in 2013. Anyway, you can play from 30p to £15 a spin and has 3 different modes and 2 free spins features.

The 3 modes are Normal, Run and Fight – in the base game the wild symbols are stacked on reel 1 and in the Free Spins features. You have the Ion Storm feature where up to 5 reels can be turned fully wild – the feature is triggered at random. Finally in the Normal mode, getting 3 or more Battlestar Galactica scatter symbols will trigger the free spins feature where you will get 15 free spins with a 3x multiplier.

During the Run mode, wins pay from left to right as well as right to left. Look out for the FTL symbol on the middle reel as it causes all Royal symbols to be transformed into mystery symbols to give you extra wins. The Run mode also occurs at random.

Finally you have the Fight mode where random symbols are turned wild at any time as the Cylons and Colonials battle it out on the reels. Wild symbols can also split into a double wild creating more winning opportunities. Look out for the Battlestar Galactica scatter symbol as 3 or more will award you with 5 free spins. You can also get extra free spins during the feature.

One thing you will notice is that the game has a Ranking Achievements feature. The more you play, the higher you rank – you start off as a Civilian and aim to make it up to Admiral. Each rank you achieve will reward you with more Battlestar Galactica series video content adding to the overall experience.

I quite like Battlestar Galactica despite not really watching the television series. The Ion Storm feature is very good (had 4 wild reels twice now!) and the free spins feature triggered from the Normal mode has been generous to me. The game is medium variance meaning that wins are quite big and come along quite consistently. This is my type of game though as I don’t like waiting ages for a win. The graphics, animations and sounds are superb too – it’s a slot I will be playing a lot in future.

The Battlestar Galactica slot has 243 ways to win and is a Microgaming game. Based on the popular science fiction television series produced by NBC Universal, it can be played from 30p to £15 a spin. It has 3 various modes including 2 free spins features.

The first mode (and the default) is the Normal mode. You will notice that wild symbols are stacked on the first reel and in the Free Spin feature – this can add to your winnings. There’s a Ion Storm feature where, at random, up to 5 reels can become fully wild. This feature has proved very fruitful for me personally. If you get 3 or more Battlestar Galactica scatters in the Normal mode, you will activate the free spins feature – here you are rewarded with 15 free spins with all wins trebled.

Then there’s the Run mode where wins pay both ways (left to right and right to left). The key to this mode is the FTL symbol on the centre reel which changes Royal symbols to mystery symbols. This can significantly help your winnings. This happens randomly too.

Lastly, there is the Fight mode where a number of symbols will randomly be turned into wilds for more winning potential. You will also notice that wild symbols split into double wilds adding to your winnings. 3 or more Battlestar scatters give you 5 free spins with the chance to earn additional free spins.

Maybe it’s not as important but there’s a Ranking Achievements feature where you get a higher rank the more you play. As you climb the ranks, you will see more Battlestar Galactica television series footage to enhance your playing experience.

This slot is superb in my opinion and the randomly triggered features can really give you a good payout – I especially like the Ion Storm feature where you can get up to 5 wild reels. It reminds me a little or Immortal Romance or Thunderstruck II which is a good thing. Graphically it’s great too which really helps. If you like branded slots with a similar theme, you should try WMS Gaming’s Star Trek Red Alert which is brilliant.
