Drive: Multiplier Mayhem Introduction
One of the major issues I have with Drive Multiplier is the fact that it is never going to be as popular as it deserves to be as a game. The market for it is very niche. There are better NetEnt slots. This one is very much for those who love their cars. Futuristic cars, in fact.
The mobile version of Drive: Multiplier Mayhem was released in February 2016. The desktop version of the game popped up at roughly the same time at Grand Ivy Casino. There are five reels and 15 paylines on it. The house edge is 3.3%. The kicker is that this is going to be a high volatility slot. The minimum bet is a bit lower than most other NetEnt games, though. The minimum is 15p and the maximum £75.00.
Drive: Multiplier Mayhem Slot Theme
This game is all about the cars. It is beautifully designed. You have an amazing city backdrop in the background of the game. It is animated and you can tell that the art team put a lot of effort into it. Even the gameplay symbols look brilliant too. However, the theme of the game seems to be nothing more than a skin once you get to this point. You see, none of the features that you see in Drive Multiplier Mayhem are really tied into the world of cars. It is a bit of a shame. NetEnt are known for designing features based around the rest of the slot, so it sucks that they did not do it.
This is a game which really seems to shine when it is played on a mobile device too. This is something which actually hurts to say since I spend most of my time playing desktop games. However, whenever I have had to reach for Drive Multiplier Mayhem over the past couple of months, it has always been booted up on my tablet or my mobile phone. This is because it looks so good.
I guess the wild symbol is sort-of tied into the theme of the game, but not as much as I would hope. Every reel has wilds (the speedometer). Many of these wilds have a multiplier on them. The size of the multiplier is dictated by where the symbol appears in the game. So, the first reel has no multiplier. The second has a 2x multiplier. The 5th has a 5x multiplier. I am sure you can fill in the blanks here.
The problem with the wild is that you will not see many of the higher paying ones during the base game. They appear, but they are only going to really help you out when it comes to free spins when they appear in greater abundance.
The free spins mode is triggered when you get three scatter symbols on the reels. There is a street race after (a weird little feature) where you can move up levels and get more wilds and free spins on the reels. It is a basic tying to the theme of the game. Not enough for me to give NetEnt credit, to be honest.
High Volatility Strategy
One of the main reasons as to why people are not going to pay attention to Drive Multiplier is the fact that it is just a high volatility slot. As we all know, if you are playing a high volatility slot, it is going to take a while for those wins to come in. When they do, they tend to be larger. However, if you are not careful then you will be blowing through your bank roll quickly. There are other games which are far, far more exciting than Drive Multiplier Mayhem here.
If you are tempted to play this game, then bet down the lower end of the market. Keep your bets nice and small. If you can do that, then you will win a decent sum of cash (I would hope). However, do not be afraid to cut your losses here!
In summary; I love the multiplier function of this game, and the theme is alright. However, I doubt that it is going to interest many people. By all means check out Drive Multiplier Mayhem, but also pay attention to some of the other slots you find on NetEnt casinos too.
