Fairytale Legends: Red Riding Hood
I do not know how much attention you play to NetEnt slots, but they have recently decided to launch a line of ‘Fairytale Legends’ slots. Basically, a slot machine version of some classic fairytales. Some of them are good. Others not so much. I want to talk about Red Riding Hood here, which is very much in the ‘former’ category.
Fairytale Legends: Red Riding Hood was released in October 2016. It offers 5 reels and 20 paylines. It has a house edge of 3.67%. It is a medium volatility slot. If you want to get started on it, you will need to be stumping up a minimum of 20p per spin. If you wish to bet at the upper end of the scale, then it is £200 per spin.
This is based on a fairytale, so expect it to be nice and colourful. Betzest Casino features this slot out of the box. Now, I have not read Red Riding Hood in years, so I have absolutely no idea how faithful the game is to the story. I can imagine that it comes quite close.
Now, anybody who reads my reviews will know that I tend not to love games which have a lot of animation in them. Some animation is fine, but the company really needs to make it work if it is going to get my praise. Red Riding Hood gets my praise here. The background has Red Riding Hood walking in the background and it looks quite good.
It is worth noting that like many of the other games you find in the Fairytale Legends range from NetEnt, this game makes it clear it is talking about fairytales. Some of the symbols that appear are ones that are normally associated with fairytales as opposed to the Red Riding Hood story e.g. a story book or a rose.
This is another entrant in the line of amazing slots that NetEnt have put together for mobile devices. In fact, Red Riding Hood is one of only a few games on the market which truly blows me away here. It looks so good on the smaller screen…even the animations. That took a lot of effort me to say as I normally loathe the mobile games.
There are seven features. Yep. Seven. The same amount as the Dwarfs (another Fairytale, of course).
Two features wrapped into one is the wilds. These wilds can only appear on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels. Although, during the free spins mode they can appear on all of the reels. As with other wilds, they act as a substitute for other symbols in the game. If you get 2 or more, then you get a free respin. The wilds will remain stuck in place for this.
There are also three features which can appear randomly on the reels when you spin:
- Fairy Magic Spin: between 5 and 9 medium value symbols are placed on the reels.
- Fairy Surprise: only appears when you do not win. A random symbol is selected. The other symbols on the reels will be changed to this symbol until you get a win.
- Fairy Wild Spin: Either 3 or 4 wild symbols will be added to the reels. You get a sticky wild respin.
The ‘Beware the Wolf’ bonus game is triggered if you get three of the bonus chests on the reels. You can win some cash on here. Not a lot, but enough. If you have played the Rainbow Riches slot, then this is very similar to that.
Free Spins are triggered if you get three treasure chests. Ten free spins. No multiplier. However, each time you get a treasure chest, you will get more free spins. There seems to be no limit here to the number of spins you can get. Some people have been reporting upwards of 40. This is before you even throw in the sticky wild respins and the like.
If you want a game that is genuinely fun to play, then we have to recommend Fairytale Legends: Red Riding Hood. With a whopping seven features for you to sink your teeth into, you really are not going to go wrong when you play it!
