Vikings Go Wild Slot Review

Vikings Go Wild is brought to you by Yggdrasil Gaming and is a 5 reel, 25 payline game which can be played from 25p to £50 a spin. It has an obvious Viking theme where Vikings fight a sea monster. Graphically good, the style is cartoon like with an inspiring and grand soundtrack making you feel part of something epic. It’s also available to play on mobile and tablet devices.

There are 9 regular symbols including Vikings and 4 coins. If 3 or more of them are lined up in sequence on payline, you will make a winning combination. The most valuable one is worth 250 times your line bet or 10 times your stake which is a little disappointing.

However, look out for the ship Free Spin symbol as 3 or more will trigger the Free Spins feature – 3 will give you 8 free spins, 4 will give you 16 free spins and 5 will give you 24 free spins. What makes this feature interesting, and rewarding, are the wild and Viking symbols.

Each Viking that lands on the reels has a chance to turn into a sticky wild – the Viking symbols will try to fight off the sea creature when they land. If they succeed, it will become a sticky wild – if not, it remains a Viking symbol.

As for wild symbols, they are sticky until the end of the feature potentially giving you huge wins. On top of this, all wilds from the triggering spin to enter the feature become sticky too!

Look out for the Treasure Chest symbol during both the base game and free spins feature on the 5th and final reel. In the base game it can give you 8 to 12 free spins and up to 40 times your stake whereas in the feature it can give you an extra 2 to 4 free spins and up to 40 times your stake as a cash prize. It can even give you a wild reel!

Vikings Go Wild is a high variance slot and one of Yggdrasil’s best games in my opinion. The bigger wins will almost certainly come in the Free Spins feature with sticky wilds and the possibility of a wild reel. I’ve managed to win over 200 times my stake a couple times now. It reminds me a little of WMS’ Viking Vanguard which has a similar theme and is highly volatile too. If you like the look of Yggdrasil Gaming, Cazino Zeppelin is high recommended.

Take to the open seas where pillaging coins is the goal in Vikings Go Wild. This 5 reel, 25 payline slot from Yggdrasil Gaming comes with a free spins feature that offers up to 24 free spins complete with sticky wilds. Land the treasure chest for more free spins or cash prizes of up to 1,000 coins. Set sail from between 25p and £50 per spin.

As you’d expect from a slot produced by Yggdrasil Gaming, Vikings Go Wild looks and sounds excellent – a Viking longboat, bobbing on the water is the setting for the reels which include 4 coins and a quartet of Vikings. The action plays out to a stirring, orchestral style score that matches the adventurous theme.

Joining the standard symbols are a wild, a free spins scatter and a treasure chest – the wild replaces everything bar the scatter. Land 3 or more of the free spins scatter to trigger the Free Spins feature. Three will get you 8 free spins, four give 16 with 24 awarded if you’re lucky enough to land a full 5 scatters.

Whenever 1 of the 4 Viking characters land during the feature, they will get involved in a battle with a sea monster’s tentacle. If they win, they will become a sticky wild and will be frozen in place for the remainder of the feature. The Viking won’t be victorious every time but you can usually except a good number of extra wilds by the time your extra games have played out.

The other symbol to look out for is the treasure chest – when this lands on reel 5, you can look forward to some extra goodies. If it lands in the base game, you can expect a prize of up to 1,000 coins or between 8 and 12 free spins. In the free spins round the chest can also offer a cash bonus of up to 1,000 coins or between 2 and 4 free spins or a wild reel feature.

The treasure chest can deliver some timely boosts in the base game but Vikings Go Wild is really all about the free spins feature where the sticky wilds can really get the coins flowing. As you’d hope from a slot based on marauding Norse warriors, the variance here is on the high side so you may have to wait some time to trigger the feature. A decent bankroll and nerves of steel are recommended.

Given the volatility, the seas you’ll sail in on Vikings Go Wild can be extremely choppy. If your luck is in though, there is potential treasure on offer. If you like the theme, Novomatic’s Red Lady is a good option and is also highly volatile.
